At Chloé, Gabriela Hearst keeps working on her special, girly style while also caring a lot about the environment. When she was designing the brand’s new clothes for spring 2023, she kept finding ways for fashion and caring for the Earth to go together. She really cares about the environment, but she doesn’t forget about making things look good or following her plan to make every collection more eco-friendly.
Instead, she lets her ideas about taking care of the Earth and making things with skilled hands work together. The bags are simple but stylish and bring back some of the Maison’s oldest styles. Today, we're introduced to Chloé's newest bag: the Penelope bag.
Fresh, but still Chloé
The Penelope bag is making its first appearance in the Chloé Spring/Summer 2023 collection, and it's a big deal for the House. It has the neat details and careful leatherwork that Hearst’s Chloé is known for. It's clear that the Penelope bag will be important for the House going forward, as there are many different shapes and sizes offered.
Whether it's the Penelope shoulder bag, flap bag, or hand-held clutch, each one has the special Penelope closure, inspired by Chloé’s old jewelry. The shoulder bag seen on the runway shows off Chloé’s skill with braided leather and soft leather. It's a bit slouchy but still has that classic Chloé feel.
The Penelope flap bag is more structured and simple, made from strong box leather in natural colors. It's good for day or night, while the bigger shoulder bag is relaxed and great for everyday use. Besides leather, the Penelope line also has bags in linen, raffia, and chunky knits, showing Chloé’s dedication to being kinder to the Earth. The bags are lined with linen, which is better for the environment, and the leather is from Europe, which is better for the Earth too.
